Guided Aura Cleansing Techniques You Can Do at Home
Simple exercises and visualizations to clear and energize your aura.

The aura, in many healing traditions, is an energetic field that surrounds and interpenetrates the physical body. While science has not measured it directly, energy healers, kirlian photographers, and many sensitive individuals report being able to perceive it. Regardless of your metaphysical beliefs, aura cleansing practices are, at minimum, powerful mindfulness and visualization exercises that promote a genuine sense of refreshment and clarity.
Why Cleanse Your Aura?
Just as the physical body accumulates tension and fatigue, the energy body accumulates the residue of difficult emotions, stressful interactions, and environmental energies. Regular cleansing creates a sense of lightness, emotional clarity, and restored vitality.
Signs Your Aura May Need Cleansing
- Feeling unusually tired, depleted, or "heavy" after social interactions
- Difficulty shaking off other people's moods or problems
- Persistent low-level anxiety or irritability without clear cause
- A sense of mental fog or emotional stagnation
Technique 1: Shower Visualization
During your daily shower, visualize the water as white or golden light, not just water. As it flows over you, intend for it to wash away all energetic residue from your day — negative emotions, others' energy, stress. Watch it flow down the drain.
Technique 2: Smudging
Burn dried sage, palo santo, or cedar and pass the smoke around your body from feet to head. This ancient practice is found in indigenous cultures worldwide and is associated with clearing negative energy.
Technique 3: Salt Bath
Add 2 cups of sea salt or Himalayan pink salt to a warm bath. Soak for 20 minutes with the intention of drawing out negative energy. The salt has natural purifying and grounding properties.
Technique 4: Breath and Light Visualization
Sit quietly. With each inhale, visualize bright golden or white light entering your body and expanding outward into your aura. With each exhale, release all that is dark, heavy, or not yours. Continue for 10 minutes.
Technique 5: Sound Cleansing
Ring a singing bowl, chime, or Tibetan bell around your body or in your space. Sound waves literally break up stagnant energy patterns and recalibrate the field.
